Kenilworth and Imbil for town enthusiast
Make sure to visit the charming country towns of Kenilworth and Imbil. Indulge in the famous donuts at Kenilworth Bakery and sample delicious cheeses at Kenilworth Dairies (our favorites are mango-macadamia and mustard seeds). Don’t forget to grab some Kenilworth Dairies’ ice cream and enjoy it with fresh passionfruit on the back veranda. For coffee, we recommend La Petite Maison. In Imbil, pick up some meat for the BBQ from the local butcher and try the vanilla slice at Imbil Town & Country Bakery. And be sure not to miss HUB @ The Ridge for Mary Valley Smallgoods and a good flat white.
Mapleton and Conondale National Parks
for nature lovers
The closest spot to explore is the Gheerulla Camping Area in Mapleton National Park. Take a short stroll and enjoy splashing in Gheerulla Creek (Gheerulla means 'empty creek'). On hot days, take a refreshing dip in the turquoise Booloumba Creek (ideal with a 4WD). Families will love the Fig Tree Walk and swimming in Mary River on the opposite side of the bridge. Additionally, there are plenty of walks and waterfalls in both Mapleton and Conondale National Parks.
Attractions for kids
Kids will adore Gheerulla Place! They can explore the yard, search for gnomes and fairies, play in the cubby house, and pick some fruit. There are also fantastic playgrounds nearby - we love both Kenilworth and Imbil ones. For a longer adventure, drive to Cooroy (about 30 mins away) to visit the Hinterland Adventure Playground, the best on the Sunny Coast. Another option is spending a day at the Ginger Factory in Yandina, perfect for younger kids. Older ones would enjoy the Mary Valley Rattler - an old train departing from Gympie and traveling through the beautiful Mary Valley!

Creating your own meal with herbs and veggies from our garden adds a special touch. Our fully equipped kitchen makes it easy! Enjoy it at one of three different dining tables at Gheerulla Place. If you prefer not to cook, try pizza from Kenilworth Pizza or a burger from Mrs. Brown's Diner. For amazing food and ambiance, book a table at Catbird Cafe & Restaurant (the surroundings are as delightful as the food) or at the Mapleton PUB (with its stunning view!).
